Djokovic outlasts Nadal in epic Aussie final

01/29/2012 - Melbourne, Australia (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Novak Djokovic became only the fifth man in the Open Era to win three straight major titles when he outlasted Rafael Nadal in Sunday's marathon final at the 2012 Australian Open. Djokovic and Nadal battled for 5 hours, 53 minutes in what turned out to be the longest final in Grand Slam history.

The world No. 1 Djokovic came from behind to defeat the second-seeded formerly top-ranked Nadal 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5 at Melbourne Park.

Djokovic is a repeat Aussie Open champ, having beaten Britain's Andy Murray in last year's finale at Rod Laver Arena. It also marks the super Serb's third Aussie crown in five years, as he also titled here in 2008.

With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons.  Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4.  Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1).  The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this.  No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.
